Since the sea air in The Hague in general seems to bread players that excel on 3/4 positions and our forwards are some times a bit outnumbers we are very happy to tell you Stacey Matenga will be joining HRC this season.
Stacey is a true forward, mainly playing at the tight head prop position, however he has experience on the other side – loose head – frontrow position as well.
He will transfer to HRC from Randwick (located on the East side of Sidney, Australia) and has played 3rd and 2nd grade and when growing up he made the under 16s and 18s New South Wales academy. He however started playing well before his teens – at the age of 5 – so basically grew up playing rugby. Tha being said he likes to play basketball as well.
Rugby nevertheless is number one on his list because of the best aspect of the game: the life long friendships that you can make.
Stacey, we hope you will indeed make life long friend at HRC in the Netherlands as well, we will do our best to make you feel at home from start on and like to extend a warm welcome to you!
