Last weekend, on October 20th, the second round of the Orange Series took place in Rotterdam at Rotterdamse Rugby Club.
There were four participating teams:
– URC Touch
– 010 United (RRC and Hermes Rugby combined)
– Eindhoven Touch
– HRC Touch
This was a development tournament for beginners to understand the unfolding of a tournament and then go to competition tournaments.
Everyone is welcome to join, and the referees are always willing to stop and explain during the match if someone doesn’t understand a rule.
The tournament started at 1 p.m. with HRC Touch against 010 United as the first match.
HRC Touch won that game with good energy and dominance in the ruck; 7-4.
Then it was URC Touch versus Eindhoven Touch, where URC Touch took the win; 6-2.
At 2 p.m., HRC Touch played against URC Touch. The match was a tough, equal game where HRC Touch turned the game in the second half with more energy and finished with a tie; 4-4.
Later on, it was Eindhoven Touch versus 010 United. Eindhoven was stronger and took good advantage of their speed to spread out the 010 United defense; 5-2.
After that, it was HRC Touch against Eindhoven Touch, where Eindhoven Touch struggled to hold off the attacking momentum of HRC and noted an 8-5 win for HRC Touch.
At 4 p.m., it was the last game, 010 United against URC Touch. It was a tight, tense game where Rotterdam turned the game in the last five minutes, making two tries in a row to tie the game; 4-4.
HRC Touch won the tournament with eight points, and URC Touch is closely next to HRC Touch on the podium with seven points.
In third place is Eindhoven Touch with five points, and 010 United with four points.
This tournament was organized by Touch NL and especially well-managed by Hester Kannamuller from our club, who refereed and organized the tournament.
HRC Touch had two wonderful captains, Brad and Irene, who did an awesome job of making sure that it would be a great experience for everybody!
