If I could be any player, I would want to be Ma’a Nonu for a day. That would be unbelievable because I’d get to experience what it’s like to be one of the most powerful, creative, and game-changing centers in rugby history.
What is the best game you played so far/which game has stayed with you and why?
The game that has stayed with me the most was when I played for the Dutch Under-20 team and we faced Spain’s Under-20 team during the European Championship. It was an incredible match where we pushed ourselves to the limit and came so close to victory. The intensity of that game, the teamwork, and the heart we showed on the field made it unforgettable. Going toe-to-toe with such a strong side and almost winning gave us a real sense of belief in our abilities.
The stupidest thing I’ve ever forgotten (short story describing when, what, why and how you resolved it)
The stupidest thing I’ve ever forgotten, and embarrassingly, it wasn’t just once, was my rugby boots. Somehow, no matter how prepared I thought I was, I’d show up to a match without them. Luckily, both times I was able to borrow a pair of boots from one of my teammates. They were only slightly too big, which made it look really funny while I was running. So now, before leaving for a match, I always triple-check that I’ve got my rugby boots with me.
