When asked why I joined HRC, I tell this story by means of example:
For me, rugby has always been about two things: playing with my friends and pushing myself to improve. At my old club, I felt like something was missing and I wanted a more performance-driven environment where I could challenge myself while still enjoying the game with my teammates. That’s why I made the switch to HRC.
Here, I found the perfect balance: a team that shares my competitive mindset while also fostering strong friendships on and off the field. The intensity of training, the ambition of the club, and the supportive team spirit made it clear that this was the right place for me. Since joining, I’ve grown as a player and as a person!
My secret tip to improve your rugby skills is this exercise:
If you want to become a better rugby player, the best skill you can develop is not just passing, tackling, or sprinting; it’s endurance. Rugby is a physically demanding sport that requires constant movement, explosive power, and the ability to maintain high intensity for the entire match. Without a strong fitness base, even the best technical skills will fade under fatigue.
By improving your conditioning, you’ll be able to make better decisions under pressure, recover faster between plays, and maintain top speed even in the final minutes of the game. In rugby, the fittest players often make the biggest impact, so make conditioning your priority!
Which injury do you fear the most and why?
The injury I fear the most in rugby is a concussion. Unlike a broken bone or a sprained ankle, which have clear recovery timelines, a concussion is unpredictable and can have long-term effects. The idea of taking a hard hit and not realizing the full impact until later is unsettling.
Rugby is a physical sport, and while I trust my technique and the safety measures in place, the risk of head injuries is always there. A concussion doesn’t just affect your game it can impact your focus, memory and even your daily life.
